How to turn off Internet for XP User Account using Trend Micro

There is no real easy way to turn off the Internet for a user account in Windows XP. I have had numerous customers who want to completely turn off the Internet for a particular user account, and in the past there has not been an easy way.

I have found that Trend Micro's Parental Control's really rocks and works fantastic for this. Here are the steps to turn this on.

The first step is Open up Trend Micro and click on the Internet & Email Controls on the left side. Then click on Parental Controls.

Then click on settings. An information screen comes up that explains what this feature does. Close that window.

On the window that is open, click on the check box, Activate Parental Controls.

There will be one account that says everyone. You can uncheck this one.

Now click on the Add Someone button and you will see a list of all the users. Click on Select of the account you want to work with, then click OK

Now the account will be added below Everyone. You can click on the website filter strength and filter some things, or you can follow the next step to disable the internet.

Click on the OFF text to the right of Web Access Schedule, and click Enable Web Access Schedule on the next page. The schedule will light up from gray.

Now start at the very top left corner Sun 12am, put your mouse there and click and drag all the way to the opposite corner to Sat 12 pm. It will turn RED, that is what you want, the whole thing to turn red, which means no internet at all. If any squares are white, just click on the individual ones to turn them red also.

Click OK on all the windows, and now that specific account will not be able to access the Internet.

I found that it will go to Microsoft and Trend, but I could not get it to go anywhere else. You also have to set a password so they cannot get into Trend and shut it off. It will ask you to do that when you set up the account.
