How to Put / Create a Hyperlink or link in a Text Document

A hyperlink or link is a word or group of words in your document which when clicked will take you to another web document or file. To create a hyperlink, highlight the word or group of words on which you want to create a hyperlink. Click the insert hyperlink button in the standard toolbar or click menu (It is the icon with a globe and chain at the bottom). A dialog box appears requesting you to enter the link filename (document) including the path, or URL. You are also requested to indicate the specific location in the document you are linking to, if you do not want to start from the beginning when you are linked to the other document, this can be a bookmark, a named range or any other identifiable object in the document.

In most cases you create Web documents in one computer and move them to another internet/intranet connected computer. For this reason address input bar is provided. Input your computer or web address if you want to move your document to another networked computer.
When you finish with the dialog box click the OK button. The words you highlighted in the document now appear in blue colour and underlined. When you move the mouse pointer to these words, the pointer turns to a hand. Double clicking will take you to the link document or web page.

The link can also take you to a specific place inside the existing document, to another document, to top or bottom of existing document, to the web, to contact email address or to the intranet/internet.

You can also set the target where you want the link to open ; to a new page or existing page.
