How To Set / Use / Work with a computer Mouse

Ms windows is a graphical User Interface (GUI) which heavily depend on the use of a mouse. A mouse is a device connected to a computer through one of ports. A port is a connection point to the computers external devices. The mouse has a trackball underneath which rotates as the device is moved on a flat surface. This causes the pointer to the desired position It can also be digital and have a wheel. By moving the screen pointer to a graphic object on the screen, and pressing the left (or right) mouse button you are able to open or select the feature or task associated with that object


There five mouse operation. These are: clicking, right clicking, double clicking, dragging and scrolling.


Clicking
As mentioned above, clicking means moving the screen pointer to an object on the screen and clicking the left (or right) mouse button


Right Clicking

Right clicking is similar to clicking (i.e., pointing and clicking). First point to the object and then click the right mouse button.


Double clicking

In double clicking, you move the Screen pointer (sometimes also referred to as mouse pointer) to the object and click twice in rapid succession with the left (or right) Mouse button. Double clicking is usually used to ask the computer to execute the task associated with the object on which you double click

Dragging
Dragging is a frequently used mouse operations. It is generally used to move and resize objects. To drag you click the object, then press the left mouse button and keep holding down while you move the mouse

Scrolling
When you are reading a long document that extends beyond the size of your viewing window, rotating the mouse wheel scrolls the document up or down so that you can continue reading it without or moving it. It also works in web pages and text documents scrolling the window contents up or down. When using internet browsers to look at web pages /web sites on the internet. Pushing the wheel up or down on browser tabs will open a new blank tab or scroll opened tabs.

How to do the mouse Settings
To set the button configurations, double click speeds, mouse pointers, pointer options and motion speeds you need to set in mouse dialog box options. For windows Xp click start ::: control panel ::: Mouse ::: Do your settings
Sometimes the left and right mouse buttons are set for vice versa roles which is very confusing.
