Are you as tired as I am hearing about the crisis we have with the economy, the unemployment rates skyrocketing and the Government spending more money on failing companies?
I follow news and current events closely and lately I just need a break from it all. Today I am going to share with you some great sites for relaxing and forgetting about the world problems and just having a little fun. Ok, I guess you can classify most of these as time wasters also. Take a break, you deserve it!
Major Geeks – This is a great site that is very safe for downloading of freeware and shareware. Also if you scroll down the page, my favorite source of funny news is in the “Way Off Base” section.

Hulu is a great site to watch movies and TV shows for free. There are some commercials, but hey, TV that you PAY FOR is full of them too!

YouTube is a great site for crazy videos, interesting stuff and very helpful videos. Do a search for tips on your favorite hobby, and there are many tutorials on YouTube. Try searching for something like “how to lay a tile floor” and you will find many tutorials to help you. You can also search for crazy things like “fainting goats.”

Flixxy has some of the coolest videos I have seen. Try checking out the “high voltage cable inspector” and “the spoiled generation”

Pandora is a really interesting and cool radio station/project. You type in the artist music who’s style you like. It then creates a station playing songs similar to that artist, including that artist and other like them. Really fun and cool.

Mid Valley Voice is a new social networking site where you can find local businesses, people, photos and events. It was just launched recently by the Mid Valley Newspapers and seems to be growing. I have set up an account there, go check it out. You can put in the towns that you are interested in and find local stuff. Really cool idea.

Google is not just a search engine, they do lots of stuff. Looking for a photo of the French Revolution for a school report, type that in Google, then click on “images” at the top of the page, and you will find hundreds of images about that topic. Also in Google, try clicking on “more” on the top of the page, and check out all the other cool stuff. If you are really adventurous, check out the “labs” section. They highlight stuff they are trying out and testing. They are seeing if those things will become full time Google things!
